The Sum of its Parts…
Every winery eventually reaches a point where it must decide whether to follow expectation or trust its own instincts.
Kintsugi grew from that decision.
For many Australian producers, a flagship wine naturally becomes a single vineyard Shiraz or Cabernet, and the commercial lure of soft slurpable ‘juicy’ wines is hard to ignore..
We chose a different path.
Its name references the Japanese philosophy of repairing broken pottery with gold, honouring history rather than hiding it, the sum of the parts somehow becoming more valued than its original incarnation.
For our Kintsugi we select only the finest barrels from our oldest and best sites, searching not for similarity but for the way they fit together in the blend.
A little more fragrance here. Greater structure there. A quieter parcel that somehow completes the conversation. Individually they are beautiful. Together they become something more.
Matured with time before release, this is a wine that deliberately resists immediacy. It asks for patience, not because it is austere, but because complexity has always been more interesting to us than sheer power.
Like every wine we make, it reflects a belief that the most meaningful things in life are rarely rushed. Perhaps that’s the quiet obsession.
