Worth Waiting For…
Great vineyards are rare, and great Pinot Noir vineyards are rarer still.
Without inherited vineyards or family expectation, we’ve always enjoyed the freedom to wait for the right opportunity rather than simply making a wine because we felt we should. Pinot Noir was one of those opportunities.
When this extraordinarily cold elevated Piccadilly Valley vineyard, finally crossed our path, we hoped the wait had been worthwhile, being both dangerously steep and planted to our favourite clones..
Pinot Noir has little interest in overt power, but rewards patience in every sense. It asks us to guide rather than direct, allowing site, season and subtlety to take centre stage.
Some wines simply can’t be rushed.
