2024 Ministry of Clouds
McLaren Vale Tempranillo Grenache

Versatility & Grace...

Some of our favourite memories of Spain aren't found in grand dining rooms, but standing shoulder to shoulder in the bustling pintxo bars of San Sebastián, where extraordinary food and wine are woven into everyday life.

Our own planting at The Chase brought that same philosophy to McLaren Vale in a tribute to those experiences, through three carefully chosen clones of Tempranillo sitting alongside Grenache on our elevated site.

Rather than chasing density or power, we’re drawn to wines that celebrate brightness, freshness and versatility to sit quietly alongside the shared plates, and fates, of the many cultural and social influences that make up Modern Australia..

Some ideas (and varieties) travel remarkably well..

  • "The refined tension at modest weight is key, with those cola and sarsaparilla notes of the tempranillo (74%) reflected in a savoury key, and the grenache (26%) opening the nose and palate, contributing dried cherry cranberry and orange peel – or that’s how it feels. Aromatic, lighter medium-weighted, savoury and delicious."
