2025 Ministry of Clouds
Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

A Taste of Freedom…

Without having the luxury, or perhaps the limitation, of a preordained family history in wine, we’ve always relished the freedom to chart our own course, including venturing into the deeply cool Adelaide Hills.

Our fascination with Chardonnay has become something of an expensive obsession. We’ve probably consumed more Chardonnay than any other grape variety, drinking and thinking about the world’s finest examples has shaped our vision. Its extraordinary ability to reflect site, season and the gentle hand of the grower continues to humble and fascinate us in equal measure.

From the precipitous slopes of Piccadilly Valley to the gentle undulations of Woodside and Lenswood, the diversity of altitude, aspect, soils and clones offers complexity and completeness.

While we continue to admire the precision and flinty restraint of Australia’s finest Chardonnays, we are equally drawn to the quiet power and harmony found in the great wines of Burgundy.

This wine is our ongoing conversation between those two worlds.

  • (2024) "This is a complex beast. Not complicated, just layered and detailed – a wine, in the house style, of refined detail. Quality oak resonates in accord with the fruit. Grilled peach, ginger, salted praline, yellow grapefruit, ripe nectarine, roasted hazelnuts, a hint of oyster shell. The palate is energetic and textural, just so poised in its balance, the acidity citric but ‘ripe’, yielding both exceptional freshness and uninterrupted flow of flavour. All class."
