2025 Ministry of Clouds
Adelaide Hills Gamay

Yay Yay for Gamay…

Some grape varieties simply make people smile. Gamay has always been one of them. Yet beneath its joyful reputation lies a variety capable of remarkable depth, texture and quiet complexity, qualities we’ve long admired in the great Cru Beaujolais of France.

We’ve searched for ‘real’ Gamay fruit since the very beginning of Ministry of Clouds, only to discover that our dear friends, the Turnbull family, shared the same conviction. Their Charleston vineyard was planted at high density, an ambitious and costly decision born from a belief that Gamay deserved to be taken seriously in Australia. It’s a rare commitment, and one we’re incredibly fortunate to share.

Today we source fruit from both Charleston and Kenton Valley, pursuing a more complete expression of the variety. Bright perfume, vibrant acidity and effortless drinkability remain central to Gamay’s charm, but we’re equally fascinated by its ability to produce wines of structure, gentle tannin and savoury complexity when grown in exceptional sites.

Like the best wines, it carries its seriousness lightly.
